Blue – Gold Game

Great day for football and George Atkinson stole the show–wow this guy can really go. Best player on the field today.

Won’t bother about the score or who won, don’t care but the OL handled the DL rather easily in my opinion. All the RB’s looked great but the QB’s still remain a major problem as far as I’m concerned. Kiel is out of the running–just not ready. Rees is out–looks just as he did last year. Hendrix up and down, threw a TD and a Pic. Golson looked good at times 2 TD’s and no Pics but put the ball on ground twice. No Jimmy Clausen in this group.

So what the hell does Kelly do. Hopefully all 4 go to some QB school this summer.

If I had to guess based just on this game it’s Hendrix Golson or the reverse.

I didn’t see Troy Niklas at all and I really wanted to see what he can do at TE. If he’s 4th on depth chart I would move him to DE for what I could see we are going to seriously going to miss Lynch. Believe we are just a couple of injuries away on defense from a disaster.

Still it’s hard to tell from just this scrimmage but with schedule we have this is looking really dicey. I expected a much better QB performance.

This game basically over by halftime with ND 49 AF 16 due primarily to turnovers by AF and an unstoppable ND offensive performance.

ND totaled 560 yards total offense with Rees passing for 4 TD’S 260 yards and the rest by an explosive running game.

The following players scored:
Floyd, Eifert, Gray, Wood, Riddick, Atkinson and Roby Toma–his first as a ND player.

Andrew Hendrix leading rusher at 111 yards which included a 78 yard run–should have been a TD but Hendrix got his feet tangled and fell down at the 1 yard line.

Dominating offensive performance and MVP offense goes to Rees.

Defense was another matter altogether–they were gashed for 565 yards and clearly don’t have a clue how to stop a fast paced multiple style option offense. AF just couldn’t put points on the board when it mattered. Does not bode well for future opponent Navy which cut blocks a lot more than AF.

Jamoris Slaughter the defensive MVP.

Surprised that freshman DL Chase Hounshell, number 50 played although he looked pretty damn good–but burns a year of eligibility.

Overall a win against a good team. 4-2 going into bye week.

Finally the first win–although errors persistently continue.
This was a very good win but major concerns still exist and we kept MSU in the game for too long.

Go back and replay the game and you will see a marked difference between the halves. Still not playing 4 quarters of solid football–but I’ll take the win, it’s a start

Harrison Smith and Robert Blanton were outstanding.

Teo was Teo and Michael Floyd is the best WR in college football.

Here come the freshman: George Atkinson took a kickoff to the house.
Tuitt, Niklas and Williams showed flashes but tentative which is understandable.
Aaron Lynch is a phenom–he simply could not be blocked. Star rising faster than Teo’s.

The OL finally played some real smash-mouth for the most part–can’t put my finger on it but 1 of the 5 is not playing up to snuff.

Re-play the game and ask yourself “where would we be without Michael Floyd?”
