Just a short note of appreciation for a great, great Defensive Left Tackle in the Class of 1966–National Champs. Pete originally was a fullback, Ara switched him to LB then the DL where he earned All American Honors. I really don’t remember anyone moving him an inch off the line of scrimmage–he was virtually un-blockable. He was 67. Thanks for the memories Pete.
Romeo Okwara, 4 star 6’4" 230lb OLB from North Carolina is ND’s 12th commit. Somewhat of a surprise but he is from same HS as Prince Shembo–so that had to help. Just recent visitor to ND that said he would take his time and then pulls the trigger. Looks like only 8-9 left. Let’s close this class out–act like Texas.
Maty Mauk committed to Missouri. Gunnar Kiel only option left if ND wants a QB for this class–but he wants to play early–bleak outlook. Seems to be headed to Oklahoma.
Just about a month away from Fall Practice and the coaching staff finalizing evaluations on 2012 prospects. Word from Penn State–4 star DE 6’6" 300lb Jarron Jones Rochester NY has pulled his verbal and is re-opening his recruitment. He recently visited ND. Maybe Diaco can work his magic here. Another interesting prospect–Tommy Schutt 6’3" 300lb DL prospect from IL would be a great pickup for ND. Maty Mauk QB seems near a decision–I’m for taking a QB every year–just can’t tell what will happen with this offense. If I was a prospect and really liked ND I would pull the trigger real soon. There are only about 9-10 scholies left for this class–that is if we hold what we have. Let’s wrap this up fast.
John Turner 6’2" Safety from Indianapolis makes it 11. Recently offered he pulled the trigger quick. ND now has a solid crew of DB’s–lets hope they stick. Now lets get some RB’s Like to see some defensive tackles added to this group especially NG–really no one behind Nix. And you just can’t get enough OL’s. That now leaves about 9 slots left and just to be on the safe side–grab a QB.
David Perkins 6’2" athlete from South Bend Indiana is ND’s 10th commit. Maybe LB or more critical need RB. That leaves maybe 10 positions left for this class. Things should start to go fast for the last 10 in this class. Good Pickup.
This is bizarre–Jordan Prestwood 6’6" 280 OT reportedly will leave FSU where he was an early enrollee and commit to ND once again. Hope this is true for it really helps the OL situation even though he will have to sit out this season. Believe he was a 4 star recruit and one of the earliest commits(originally) to the ND 2011 class. Giant Welcome back to the fold–if true!!!!!
Fresno, Calif. WR Deontay Greenberry makes nine. 6’3" 190 with good speed makes 2 excellent receivers in this class. Nice balance in this class so far–would like to see 2 RB’s pull the trigger asap-badly needed. So, so far so good–keep em coming.
C.J.Prosise 6’2" Safety makes it 8. ND now has 2 Safety and 2 CB commits for 2012. Prosise commits but has not yet visited. There is always concern, at least in my mind, when this occurs–keep fingers crossed for we now have a completed defensive backfield for this class if we can hold them. Great pickup with excellent speed.
Mark Harrell, Charlotte NC Charlotte Catholic H.S. 6’5" 270 OL makes it 7. Heavily recruited with offers from Auburn, Michigan & Stanford, among others–says he is solid for ND. That makes 2 OL along with a LongSnapper for 2012. Excellent pickup. Keep it rolling.
