Robert Blanton ignited the entire ND team with a punt block for a touchdown. Prior to that it looked on offense as same old story. The defense played hard the entire game.

After the punt block ND seemed an entirely different team in all aspects of the game.

Brian Smith played his best game as did Kamara with 2 TD’s. Floyd was just Floyd. Wood and Jonas Gray ran well and the OL finally started hitting hard and opening holes. Pleased to see LG Chris Watt got significant playing time–looked good as he preps for 2011.

2 freshman Kona Schwenke and Prince Shembo played very well when in.

Rees was workmanlike–did well for his first start.

Coaching–best so far from entire staff. Team looked and played like a semi-decent team. Hats off to Kelly. Finally had a chance to enjoy a game. Just hope they bring same intensity for remaining 2 games.

Next up Army and the option. Hope the defense just attacks rather than trying to re-act.

Good win–trust Kelly keeps pressure on during this weeks practices.

Final Thoughts Utah Game

My prediction is already in and I still stand by it.

This is the game that we finally find out how good a coach Kelly is. Simply put he must win this game with what he has. Must get pressure off Rees by establishing some kind of running game. That, of course, means the OL finally must stand up and do something. They haven’t done it all year– so I am hopeful they get yanked if they show up and just go thru the motions. Time to prepare for 2011 if this game starts to fall apart.

Utah is not unbeatable, but let’s see who shows up for ND.

UTAH WEEK

ND has had 2 weeks to prepare for this game so there are no excuses.

Still it is difficult to determine how good or bad this team is with all the injuries. But the record is the record-so we go from there.

As previously posted–this group of ND players should be hitting their stride. All of the excellent recruiting by Weis over his last 4 years should now be showing up on the field–it isn’t. How do you get them to play–no one on 2 coaching staffs seems to know. Better in Nov. than Sept.–No.

Okay a good Utah team gets blown out by TCU, so the feeling here is, they will come into ND all pumped up. They will not fall flat–no one else has, and, again this is a good well coached team.

Thus far, of the 5 losses, the winning team put up at least 28 points including Tulsa and Utah is a far better team. With that in mind this observer believes Utah hits 40 or over this Saturday.

Final Score

Utah 42 ND 24

BYE WEEK 3 GAMES TO PLAY

Okay 9 games played and our record should be 7W 2L. With wins over Michigan, MSU and Tulsa. Actually our 2nd team should have been able to beat Tulsa.

I truly hope the entire coaching staff, especially the Head Coach, has taken a very deep look into how they have coached thus far. Hard to believe Kelly has been a head coach 20 yrs with some of the most bizarre decisions seen by this observer.

Kelly stated some of the players feel entitled–yet he continues to play them while the subs don’t even get on the field except for injuries–especially the OL. These guys will play next year with no experience–so we continue to go round in circles each year with each coach. No matter how 2010 ends up put these guys in now–how the hell can they be any worse than what we have. When it really counts we cannot run for 1-3 yds.

It’s dispiriting that Diaco had no clue what to do about Navy. That also goes for MSU game–I don’t think Kelly or anyone else even considered a possible fake.

Going ahead if any player is not playing lights out every play and for 4 complete quarters–bench them right away.

I just don’t understand what Kelly is saying when he moved Hendrix up to 3rd QB but says he really doesn’t know enough to play. What the hell have these guys been doing since August.

Realistically we are staring at final record of 5W 7L but that could just as easily be 4W 8L

YOU BETTER GET USED TO IT

Kelly quote on intercepted pass. Does anyone think that is somewhat arrogant.

Imagine if Weis had said that in this same situation.

What would the howling be like if Weis bypassed the FG.

What would the howling be like if Weis said our goal is to finish 6-6 and go to a bowl.

This Act is getting old: Is it really necessary to publicly berate players on National TV. Sooner or later they are just going to tune him out. Think this would be a turn off for a recruit or his parents?. You could get away with this in Cinn-only on TV maybe once a year–not at ND

3RD And Long–why is it so easy for teams over the last 4 coaches tenure for pass completions on these most crucial points in the games. They invariably lead to another ND loss. For USC it has led to multiple Heismans.

This team, unfortunately, is unraveling and I fear another de-commit coming-really hope I’m wrong.

DAYNE CRIST

If ever a guy was star crossed it’s Dayne. Came to ND to study under Weis and knew he would have to sit and backup Claussen.

He did all that, got injured. Weis leaves and Kelly comes in–square peg in round hole.

Thanks for all you have contributed on and off the field– You are truly a ND man.

Good Luck in your recovery.

“Coaching is nothing more than eliminating mistakes before you get fired.” Lou Holtz

In this absolutely must win game, Tulsa racked up over 200 yds. rushing and close to 200 yds. passing–that kid’s is 400 yds. You can’t win giving up those numbers week in and week out. ND on the other hand ran for about 120 yds. and over 300 in the air.

The ND sideline is starting to resemble visitors from the surrounding hospital wards.

If you watched the game their is little to say. But I will do my best:

  1. noticed right at the start how hard Tulsa was hitting.
  2. Dayne Crist was literally blasted out of his shoes on the sideline.
  3. Tulsa OL and DLine outplayed ND and I’m still wondering where OLB’s are.
  4. Down to 2 Running Backs.
  5. OL-just don’t get how they can be so bad week in and week out. It doesn’t seem to matter how many OL line coaches we go thru. You will never be a winning team if you can’t consistently run the ball. At the end of the game, just a few good runs would make for a super easy FG.
  6. Rees played well 4tds.
  7. Clausen in game-ok pass to Floyd almost automatic TD but not with a true 2nd string freshman. You just do not do that. Kelly said he will always play aggressive–well that call was just plain stupid, especially for a guy who has been coaching 20 yrs.
  8. Kelly proud how Rees just kept bouncing up after the hits he took. If he keeps getting hit like that-we’ll soon be onto our third QB. Why the hell doesn’t he say-I don’t want my QB touched and we will be working the OL hard for next 2 weeks and replace those not producing.

Final words–It will take a miracle for ND to win next 3 games.

Predicted final record

4 Wins 8 Losses

True Imbecile – Notre Dames Loses To Tulsa 28-27

Brian Kelly Loses The Game

With the game virtually won, a chip shot for a field goal, with something like 30 seconds left on the clock what does our fearless leader do.

Every coach in any type of division would set up for a FG to ice the game. Not our brilliant leader. With a freshman QB, and all you need do is run one play to line up as close as possible to just set up the winning score. Ruffer has proved he can kick–put it in his foot which has been true so far–no miss situation. But no, our brilliant coach asks a true freshman to throw a TD pass, needlessly, only to be intercepted.

Is this guy insane!!!

Unfortunately–yes.

I want all you bloggers to come out along with your idiots who chip in to defend this Head Coach –You wanted his head on a spike and got it but Charlie Weis would not have lost this game. This is a tough gig for any coach and Brian Kelly is a complete idiot–go ahead and defend him–you can’t. You are just a bunch of elitist assholes. This guy is choking all over the place or dare I say it, not ready for ND football. Sad that a big fat brilliant ND grad is run out by a bunch of no knowledge trolls–you got what you wanted so live with it.

It usually takes 6-10 yrs for a ND coach to burn out–this guy is toast in 8 games.

I want every fat guy joker to comment on your latest hero.

Weis would have taken us to NC game–but too fat and slobby for you ignorant elitist.

You got what you wanted a sideline figure, a little slim but years away from playing in the big leagues. This loss was totally unnecessary. Shame for the players.

More to follow tomorrow….

JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT

Retro–Interesting–same plays 2009 vs 2010. Obviously defensive coaches learned very little–sorta like they didn’t even look at 2009 tape. Same exact plays in 2010. Now somebody is stupid here and certainly not the Navy coaches.  Offensive line play –no difference.

What I find more interesting is coaching–keep your eye on the clock in 2009 game.

Charlie never quit– Kelly with 6 minutes left? Hmm what do you think?

You pick the coach–forget about defense-concentrate on offense and time.
