Notre Dame finally lands a blue chip power running back in 5’11” 221 Elijah Hood from Charlotte Catholic HS in North Carolina. Weekend visit with parents seals the deal. He is currently rated higher than both 2013 RB commits and he brings power and speed – great pickup for the Irish.

So lets see that’s 8 so if total we can take is around 20 that leaves only 12 slots left – so again any guy out there with an offer better get aboard soon or might miss out. This big time commit could cause a snowball effect with other elite recruits considering ND. Catholic HS’s coming through again.

Other news – John Goodman free agent with Cinncy Bengals joining Eifert.

Junior Weekend provided ND’s 5th commit for the 2014 Class when Andrew Trumbetti 6’5″ 250 Defensive End gave Kelly and Diaco the good news. Superior athlete that could also play TE for Notre Dame but is penciled in for defense book-ending Jay Hayes as the other DE commit.

Andrew is from Demarest NJ, camped at ND last summer where he was offered. Life long ND fan with offers from all over – great pick up for the Irish in what will be a small class. This certifies ND’s defense wins games thoughts. Now they need a Big nose Guard.

With the limited amount of slots available in this class look for rapid movement from others to get on board early.

Jay Hayes 6’5″ 275 OL or DL from Brooklyn’s poly Prep picks Notre Dame over Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and others becomes the 3rd commit for the 2014 class.

Cites Academics as prime motivator.
Starting to prefer defense over offense.

Winning sure helps in recruiting.

Justin Brent 6’3″ 180 lb WR from Indiana becomes ND’s 2nd commit for 2014 class joining LB Greer Martini. Recruiting is amping up with more and more early commits. Guess it helps that ND already has 17 for the 2013 Class.

If you haven’t already check out the film clip from previous post on Alex Anzalone–kid is also quite a running back. If he wasn’t such an outstanding LB he could be a very good big running back–just a great athlete.
