Finally, finally a game we could just relax and enjoy a beat down. Cierre Wood 11 carries for 150 yards including a 68 yard TD run in first series–is it me? I thought Wood was faster than he seemed. This game ended on Wakes 1st series when Carlo Calabrese absolutely crushed a RB who caught a pass over the middle, pursued by Manti and then wham– fumble which led to the 2nd score.

Eifert was just terrific as was TJ Jones and John Goodman. Eifert now # 1 in catches by a ND Tight End.

Wow, Golson has some arm and he seems effortlessly elusive–he ended up with 346 yds passing 3 TD’s and 1 pick. ND’s total yards 584–209.

Defense just smothered Wake, Tuitt sack leaves him just 1 behind Justin Tuck. Great win on Senior Day.

Other news:

  • Baylor 52 Kansas State 24
  • Stanford 17 Oregon 14 in overtime
  • UCLA 38 USC 28 and Barkley hurt.

Drumbeat already in gear to push ND out of Championship game even if they beat a Barkley less USC in less than a rout.

Really wanted to see a ND KSU Championship Game.

Charlie Weis has just got to be mighty proud of this senior class.
Wonder what Aaron Lynch is thinking now.

On to USC–won’t be an easy game and watch what the refs do in this game. Regardless of the QB for USC, Notre Dame has just got to put enormous pressure on him–multiple sacks.

Finally F–K the SEC and ESPN reporters.

Here’s some clips from und.com—enjoy.

  1. Number 1! That is hard to believe but I will take it. ND must absolutely destroy USC. Golson will have to play out of his mind. Big props to TJ Jones. That kid has been money all year long and barely gets any credit. Funny what you said about Aaron Lynch. Let’s hope Georgia beats Alabama.

    1. Agree re- Georgia. While there is very little class in the SEC, Ga. coach Mark Richt seems the most decent. Plus Tuitt from Ga.just turn him loose. ESPN will pull out all the stops for USC and Alabama.

      1. Yes, as much as I want ‘bama to lose (I root for anyone who plays ‘bama), don’t think it’s going to happen. I really don’t think ND will have much problem if they face Alabama. I really really like this ND team. I have more confidence in them now than I did in the first couple of weeks. I really like the defense, and Golson seems to be getting better week to week.

Being a Boston native, this team reminds me of the first 3 super bowl wins by the Patriots. Bend but don’t break defense that makes big plays and a QB that limits mistakes. If Golson can do that, ND can beat anyone.

And ultimately, to avoid silly arguments about whether or not ND is a real national champion, I say bring on Alabama. And because of what the ratings would be, I’d count on it.

        1. Chris–man you have some solid arguments. I wanted an easy walk to the Championship=KSU. I’m not as confident as you are against Alabama primarily because of our OL. I would like to see some run blocking when we get inside the 5–seems always a struggle to get 1-2 yards and Bama does have a good DL. But it would be great to beat them.

Anyhow, miracle season and unexpected–now we can’t screw it up at USC. I’ve seen too many dreams crushed out there–good teams losing in the final minutes.

ND better get to the USC QB early–that to me is vital to win this game.

          Your insight appreciated.
