ND vs. Florida State
Thursday 12/29/11 5:30 est ESPN–Orlando Fla.

Kelly names Rees starter–I have no problem with that but Hendrix better play a lot. Think Bowl Game start puts too much pressure on Hendrix and hopefully he will be able to grasp a few more plays in the next 3 weeks.

I’m more concerned about the OL–think FSU eats them alive and Rees is carried off field on a stretcher.

So unfortunate with the absolute bungling of the Crist situation–could have been lead up to big big 2012 season–oh well!!!!

  1. Defense better step it up bigtime as I have no confidence in Rees & co to put many points on the board. OL terrifies me after Stanford performance. But offensively I really have no clue how good FSU is. Here’s to 2013.

    1. Shane–did not see them play this year but pre-season they were supposed to make a run for # 1 but lost to a then # 1 Oklahoma 23-13.

Seem to be an odd team on offense but they can score.

We had 3 common opponents–they beat BÇ 38-7

      Wake L 35-30 ND W 24-17
      Maryland W 41-16 ND W 45-21

Then they beat Florida and lost to Virginia.

So it’s hard to tell who will show up but then again we never know what ND team will show either.

What bothers me the most is how easy Pitt, USC, BC and Stanford shut down our offense early. If I had to guess–they’ll rush 6 and box out Floyd. Rees has 2 secs. to throw. I’d blitz right up middle at Golic.

ND has to play the super fast offense Kelly promised or we’re dead–boy we really need Jonas Gray now.

Lot of chatter from ND players about Crist to Wisconsin or saying they’ll now root for Wisconsin. Might be a good fit–Pro offense and giant line.

    2. Shane– one other thing–if you fell like being a contributing reporter on this site–just let me know. I have the same deal with ndla. Whatever you put up will be unedited here just as long as you don’t say f–k more than once in a sentence.

You have very good insights and if you feel like it–we would like to have you–or else you can continue to just post comments.

We are not looking for the crazies as other sites put up–just good ND talk always mindful that players 18-22 might happen across our site. As they say –you’re not out there we are. But some guys just may need the push we give them.

  2. I really appreciate the invitation. Now I’ll need to come up with some original ideas that are worth someone’s time to read.
I appreciate your comment on the players being on the field and our having the pleasure to critique from our laptops. Regardless of whether the season went as well as we had hoped, these guys work their butts off. They have a heck of a lot more commitment and discipline than I did as an 18-21yr old and probably more so than 99% of their peers (I played golf in school and was blown away by the rigorous schedule and factoring that in with college life – ND football is infinitely more demanding). I think people forget that these guys are college students and how distracting it can be. Add on top of that the pressure of the ND spotlight (I do believe this impacts players) and it’s a tough order. But these players give their all to try to make my autumn Saturdays enjoyable and I appreciate it. So even if I had hoped for Crist to lead them this year I appreciate Rees’ effort and commitment.
You make an interesting point about which FSU team will show up. I wonder if FSU fans say the same about ND. I am particularly curious how amped the seniors will be for their final game. I fear there’s still a rift with them and Kelly and I hope they use that to motivate them as opposed to as a wedge. We’ll see on 12/29.
Crist to Wisconsin would be pretty interesting. Would love to see him take them back to the Rose Bowl next year. He’ll love their offensive line. Would still love to see him have his shot at redemption.

    1. Shane– as usual good post–hard to visualize– practice– then weight room– then 3 hours study hall all the while your roomies sitting around drinking beer–which I majored in.

As to topics you could write up–just write whatever interests you–particular player or series of plays–coaching etc. I just write whatever pops into my head and don’t care too much if anyone is interested in it. Not a job–just have fun with it. Can be short, long, frequent or infrequent. Sorta like what you just posted.
