Timing
My wish list of favorites just reduced by one–Tommy Schutt.
Seems he was about 1/2 hour away from committing to ND when ND pulled it’s offer after getting Sheldon Day.
I’m not a recruiting expert and don’t know who the staff has lined up(limited scholies left) but I would have taken him.
NG is punishing position but guess here is– just get one and leave open a more critical position need. Too bad I really wanted this guy.
But just goes to show other recruits better hop on now or lose your offer.

I’m baffled by this. Why would you turn that guy down?
LA–really don’t know–but don’t like it. He had an offer and to yank it away at last minute just is not what ND is all about.
Plus he’s rated in the top 50 by ranking services.
Sheldon Day is monster sized but NG is a injury prone position. Day also fast enough to play DE.
Only thing I can think of–ND agreed not to take another NG to get Day to commit.
It’s also interesting that Michigan pulled their offer earlier saying position filled.
In any event I would never turn down a guy this good–hell they could make a Center or Guard out of him. Think ND will regret this.
